Listen to "Big Eyed Rabbit" here by the lady with THE coolest name ever -Matokie Slaughter here and a sample here

Margaret Kilgallen tags as a "homage" to here

"Matokie Worrell Slaughter (sometimes known as "Tokie" Slaughter) (c. 1935-December 31, 1999) was an American clawhammer banjo player.
Born some time around 1935 in Pulaski, VA to a large musical family, she performed regularly with her family on local radio in the 1940s. She and her sister Virgie (later Virgie Worrel Richardson) also appeared regularly at local fiddler's conventions. She was discovered by the larger old-time music community when some of her recordings appeared on Charles Faurot's clawhammer banjo anthologies during the 1960s. Later, she made many appearances at folk music festivals and workshops throughout the US and formed a band called Matokie Slaughter & The Back Creek Buddies with her sister Virgie and old-time music revivalist Alice Gerrard. The band issue a cassette-only release, Saro, in 1990. [1] [2] [3]
Slaughter is known for her unique, driving style of clawhammer banjo playing, with complex noting and double-noting and featuring both uppicking and downpicking. [2] She also occasionally played fiddle.
During the 1990s, San Francisco artist Margaret Kilgallen began drawing freight train graffiti using the name "Matokie Slaughter" as an homage to the original Matokie Slaughter. A fictionalized version of Matokie Slaughter also figured prominently in many of Kilgallen's non-graffiti artworks. [4] [5]

My green pepper sprouts. Feather/Bullet casing necklace charms I made Sunday. The Half eaten cow skull and bug spray-it's that time-SCORPION season. Good news-Landlord said we can stay in the house for at least another year. Only thing is around X-mas he'll be tearing out our patio and storage room and making it bigger and better-so I guess we can't complain. Hopefully he'll bring some hot Colorado construction workers with him as well.

**All shoes are from Ebay and are not mine.

My shoes of the day are these vintage "Rainbow Bright" Platforms that Jazmine gave me for my Bday a few years ago. They are a TAD too small for me tho plus I have super wide feet. I remember my Mom always having a hard time finding shoes that fit me as a kid.

Zabriskie Point

This is in my Netflix queue-can't wait to get it. The guy is HOT also...

This is for you Amanda-NPR - Bill Callahan -3 Song Set. I've always thought his voice was so big for him. I think the same goes for Micah P Hinson. His voice is so strong and he doesn't fit what I thought he would look like when I first saw him play a few years back. Know what i'm sayin'! Both are super awesome.

Alley Cat

This is where I was Sunday night. That lil mini bike above is the one I got to cruise around the alley's in. My kidney's and back were aching after from the lack of suspension. I tried to get Chris to let me ride the Triumph above but it's out of commission, plus once I sat on it I realized there's no way in hell I'd be able to ride it the way it's set up-my arms/torso aren't long enough to lean all the way down to the handlebars. Maybe somebody can let me do $100 of work so I can buy this

Productive

This weekend was boring but productive. Friday night I slept after work to try to cure the brain damage from drinking a whole bottle of wine at the dinner exchange we had with the dudes. When I woke at 10pm I finished watching Benjamin Button. I thought the movie was really sad but good. Saturday I woke up at 7:30 am and took the dogs for a walk, went to Costco for dog treats, took a nap, watched a really good documentary called "Our City Dreams" read about it here.

Sunday was my productive day. I forced myself to make jewelry for a few hours, fixed some random things I had laying around. I cut a piece of wood for a new back piece for some deer horns. Next project is to do something to the background to make it pretty-maybe some decoupage? I fixed the one set of huge antlers and then proceded to drop it and break it AGAIN-argh-now it's finally fixed and hung back up. I made the mistake of leaving it on the floor once and caught the dogs gnawing on it, then stupid me made the SAME mistake with a cowhead somebody gave me. I brought it in to save it from dry rotting in the sun and placed it on the living room floor and came back to find the dogs had eaten half the damn face off, I was SO mad/bummed. Sunday night was fun. I went to my friend Chris' house and rode his mini bike thru the alley's, helped him make room for his new Triumph's in his already crowded garage and then took his dog for a walk.

I don't know where I can sell my jewlery. Etsy seems like there's so much on there that your stuff doesn't get attention so i've only sold a few pieces.

This is what hap's when the cat sneaks in my doogy door. Poor cat!

The coolest kitchen appliances ever. here SUPER pricey tho.. figures. I discovered them via one of my fav blogs here

I Like.

The blown out brick wall reminds me of our bedrooms. The person that owned the house before tried to make it "loft style" and ripped it out all sloppy so now we have drapes as doors. Only complaint about that is it doesn't keep the noise out...or in. All pics from The Selby here

Last Night.

My head is killing me. Our friends Max and Chris had us over for our 1st MCDC dinner exchange program. Chris made Enchilada Lasagna (or Enchilada Surprise) and Cheesecake. I made Blueberry/Cherry Cobbler. Dana brought the Wine and now I'm paying for it. Good times tho. Chris is a tattoo artist and now I know who will be doing my jackrabbit tattoo. Max's new hot dog/hamburger tattoo was pretty rad

It's Getting HOT.

This lil bugger (not this actual one but nearly about the same size as this one) was found crawling on the inside of my roommate's skirt last night. We both nearly crapped our pants. I still can't believe it. I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, scream or run-Dana did a lil bit of all of the above and she did good for the circumstances. I would have prob run straight into a wall in a panic and knock myself out in the process. I killed the muthafuckah. They call them Wind Scorpions or Sun Spiders. SO NASTY! It's the 2nd one we've found in the house this week. I'm so glad it wasn't crawling up ME! For now on when I pick up clothes off the floor or out of my closet I am DEF shaking it out at least 10 times before I put it on my body.

How bout it.. all these are from FreePeople.Com. I think the suspenders would be good at holding the booze gut in!

And now I think I will start adding the shoes that I am wearing on Tuesdays. Maybe it will help motivate me to whip out some old pairs. I had to take them off bcuz I have no room to move my toes around and I like to take my shoes off at work because I sit on my legs all the time or I will sit cross legged in my chair. I'm sure this is very bad for my 37 yr old circulation. Still don't have any spider veins tho so WOO HOO!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jean-Pierre Jeunet Films... Can't WAIT for this one.

E-bay and Then Some...

Ok, I really don't want to sell this jacket but I guess it's a bit big on me and I don't need it. I have been saying I was going to sell it for a while now but I really am. I just forgot it at home so I will have to list it tonight or tomorrow. I love all the patches on it, ESP the Datsun one. OK ITEM# 180379849694

.

William Rast Corset belt going on Ebay. I bought it and have yet to wear it so.....

The items above aren't going on Ebay but they are some great vintage thrift finds for sure. Esp the old Hang Ten T-shirt (this one MAY end up on Ebay). I love the lil heart print on the shirt above. The only prob is the shirt is super short.

the vintage skirt and two mesh crop tops are def going on ebay. I will post the item #'s when they are listed.

My weekend wasn't TOO eventful. It was relaxing and the days didn't go by too fast. I didn't really accomplish too much either. Here's a few pics from random things I did over the weekend. Well, I guess they are mostly of this car dude bbq I went to Saturday.

The lady who co-owned this car with her hubby said that she knit these shades 38 years ago, so cool.
